The Phoenix Wall Sconce is an architectural composition defined by the relationship between intersecting ironwork and natural alabaster.
Its distinctive form begins with slender wrought iron members that extend outward from a concentrated central passage. Crossing through one another in a disciplined arrangement, the iron members establish a sculptural silhouette that reveals changing relationships between line, depth, and open space.
Behind this composition, a broad alabaster panel introduces an entirely different material character. The contrast between the strength of the ironwork and the softness of illuminated natural stone gives the Phoenix its remarkable visual presence.
A Study in Structure and Light
Unlike a conventional wall sconce built around a visible candle-style light or a decorative shade, the Phoenix uses its iron construction as the defining architectural element.
The crossing members create a sense of movement without relying on ornamental excess. The alabaster serves as a luminous backdrop, revealing natural variations in color, veining, and translucency while allowing the ironwork to remain visually prominent.
This relationship becomes especially compelling when the fixture is illuminated. The stone introduces warmth and depth, while the iron establishes a strong graphic presence against its softer surface.
Architectural Presence at Wall Scale
Measuring 17 inches high, 17 inches wide, and 8 inches deep, the Phoenix is substantial enough to serve as an individual wall-mounted focal point.
It can be considered for entryways, hallways, stair halls, living spaces, and other interiors where architectural lighting should contribute to the room beyond illumination alone.
The design also provides an opportunity to coordinate wall lighting with the larger Phoenix chandeliers without repeating their scale.
Made in the USA. Three Generations of Manufacturing Knowledge.
Ashore Lighting manufactures its own lighting in the USA, continuing a third-generation tradition of architectural ironwork.
The Phoenix reflects our approach to design and manufacturing: the structure is not concealed beneath decoration. It is the defining expression of the fixture.
Each sconce is made to order and offered in 10 signature finishes and four natural alabaster colors. Because alabaster is a natural material, variations in tone, veining, and translucency are expected and contribute to the individuality of every piece.
As the manufacturer, we can also evaluate requests for custom finishes, dimensions, and select design modifications for specialized architectural projects.
The Phoenix is an expression of what becomes possible when ironwork and natural stone are treated not simply as materials, but as essential elements of architectural design.
